Tailor your Resume :
Companies receive tons of applications for a job. A Resume gives the first introduction about you to the interviewer. “Customization” is an integral part of preparing your resume. Always customize your resume according to the Job Description. See to that your resume consists of all the important points what the interviewer is seeking. For E.g. If the interviewer is looking for good communication, time management, team coordination, management skills, then your resume must bring out all these necessary attributes in order to stand out from the crowd. If you are applying for a new job in a new city make sure you’re putting the right thing on your resume otherwise you might be scaring companies off. Never misrepresent any details.
Target your job search:
Applying for every job you find isn’t always a good idea. Focus your search on what you are qualified for. Sending out random resumes and cover letters is going to be a waste of your time. So always choose the industry in which you want to get placed, take time to do some research about it. This would give an insight into the latest happenings in the industry. Detailed company knowledge would give you leverage to answer the questions in the interview.
Use Your Network:
Most jobs are found through networking, whether it’s on-line or in-person. You will never know who can help you to find your dream job. Use your networking skills and tell your connections that you are looking for a job.
Don’t Stop Trying:
Don’t stop applying for jobs while you are waiting to hear back from an employer. Survey says most job seekers are rejected by over 15 employers before landing a job. Learn from your mistakes and keep applying until you get the right offer. Worst case you will be juggling with multiple job offers.
Dress to Excel:
Appearances shouldn’t matter but they do. “The first impression is the best impression”, as this saying goes the first few minutes of an interview are when you get to make that crucial first impression.
1. Be sure that you are dressed appropriately for the type of job and the company you have applied for.
2. Don’t be too trendy or fashionable.
3. Don’t grow long nails.
4. Be sure to use moderate colors in your dress.
5. Longbeards ( for men ) are a complete no’s in many jobs..
Be Yourself in the Interview:
Employers want to know who they are hiring and that’s the person they expect for the first day of work.
Demonstrate,
- Passion
- Eagerness
- Drive to learn more in the interview.
- Share your story about how you handled a situation and your experience when asked.
- The more concrete information you provide the more the interviewer will get to know you.
